Tuesday's Rundown

Hiyas!

Got a bit of rambling to do , but before that , I want to say a big CONGRATS to fellow blogger Bogart in P Towne - as he proposed to his girlfriend Claire and she said YES!!! Click HERE to see the story and the ring...

After Saturday night, we didn't do much Sunday but rest up. I did do the laundry ( and YES I'm still keeping up with my promise to fold and hang it all up the same day its done), and I did the dishes, and made spaghetti for dinner. Oh yea, and I played on the computer too.

Yesterday I mowed the front lawn, but didn't do it while wearing my leg braces so by the time I was done my legs felt like I had run a race, and I was very unsteady , so after a long hot shower I didn't do much else where I had to walk. I knowI should wear my braces but my left one is rubbing a huge blister on my heel, so I did put a call into my orthotist and he will come by and check them out on Thursday. Maybe this week I'll actually take pictures of them and show u how deformed my feet are so you get an idea...

Anyway, today I got to sub for 7th grade science. I had one 8th grade class. I wound up having more free time then I had as of yet while subbing so it was a good day all in all. The teacher I was subbing for was one of the 7th period athletic coaches and I checked with the other coaches this morning and they said I didn't have to come help them, ( WHEW!).

Most of the 7th grade I had already had a week ago when I subbed 7th grade English. Most of the kids remembered me ( good or bad thing I can't figure out though..) and I in turn remembered the trouble children. The ones that drove me to the brink.

Today I was determined to not let them get away with anything. The classroom I was in is right next to the office. First period was ok, a bit loud , but they kept it to a low din. 2nd period? pretty much the same, except one loud mouth, but he took heed of my warnings and was ok the rest of the time.
3rd prd? this is where the day started to unravel. One side of the class was behaving, the other was not. Since I still don't know them all by name yet, I had one girl ask me if she should go get the counselor since she knew names of the ones misbehaving and I told her yes. The counselor came in and they behaved the rest of the time.
My 4th period? I only had one kid who would NOT do anything I asked him to do . He told me he didn't know what he should be doing. I told him if he had his mouth shut he would have heard my instructions. I opened his book for him. Told him I wanted at the very least the first part of the worksheet done by the time class was almost over. He continued to putz around, get up out of his seat, talk and still NOT do his work. I gave my first talley. ( these are given when students have been warned repeatedly and still not doing what they r told to do... parents have to sign , and there are consequences if they get 3 or more in one week...)
6th period pretty much the same as 3rd - counselor called, and one boy was trouble, lol.
If called I will still sub for 7th grade as I am getting used to them now, lol.

Stopped on the way home and got Chicken Express - I got my first check today - YAY ME:) and I had no clue what to make for dinner.

My mom is coming out here tomorrow for us to spend the day together. I do have to run by the post office to mail Michelle her candle basket she won for knowing all 17 of our movie lines from the contest Nikki and I recently held, then I have to go cash my check.
We will probably be going out to lunch too, so I'm looking forward to that.

When we got home today though, Nicole and I were greeted by barf on the chair by the door, barf ( I think) on the couch and after the dogs were let out and came back in - barf full of grass in the den. YUCK! Got that all cleaned up and I will further investigate the wet spot on the couch - if it was doggy upchuck or if my older doggy had an accident which she never has before.

Will hopefully get to take some pictures tomorrow of my mom and I. Hope ya'll have a great evening. I know we are going to watch results night of Dancing with the Stars, then I'm not sure whats going on, so talk to you later!

Saturday Night On The Town...

Saturday night we had a BLAST!!!! We had some friends come in from Oklahoma just for the night and we went out to dinner and to see the Musical TOMMY. Nicole went with us , never having seen a musical before. We knew she might not understand some of it but we knew she would enjoy the music. I had heard Chris talk of it, since he is so entwined with music, but didn't know much else about it except that it had great music.

We also went out to eat beforehand at Texas Land and Cattle - YUMMY! but none of us had dessert since David had just been put on a pretty strict diet, that his son was following with him for the most part for support. Oh my bad - Nicole had dessert - she had some oreo cookies:)

Anyway hope you enjoy the pics!

The Playbill:

This one was taken after the show when some of the actors were in the lobby. This was Nicole and I with the hunky guy that played Tommy's father. ( Sorry some of the pics were blurry)
He was very nice and asked Nicole how old she was , what grade she was in and stuff. She was very happy!

This was the keyboard player and one of the singers of the band in the show - the bands name was Oso Closo and they ROCKED!!! We got one of their CD's. It was really cool how they integrated the band into the actual show though - very well done. Chris was very excited to meet him, so I took a pic of my happy hubby.

This is the same guy with Nicole. When some of the actors found out it was her first musical they hugged her and asked her how much she liked it, so this guy was happy to have his pic with her!

This is David and his son Matthew. We actually met them online about 6-7 yrs ago. They play the same game that I've mentioned that Chris and I play. We had met them before in real life, and talk on the phone all the time. Davids wife Teena was unable to come unfortunately, so she stayed home with their youngest daughter Susanna, who is a year older than Nicole.

We wanted to be able to see them off this morning before they went back to Oklahoma and go out to breakfast , but it was going to have to be way too early because Matthew had to be at work by 1:oo this afternoon since he couldn't find anyone else to fill in for him.

You know who this lovely couple is

David took this pic, got it a little blurry, lol. We had been laughing and if you take a pic with my phone and move just a bit - you get blurry. Guess he was still chuckling a bit when he was trying to take the picture.

Just a pretty building near the Dallas Theater Center that I took a picture of while killing time outside, soaking up the nice evening air before the show started.

Poster on the wall showing the cast

After it was all said and done, we asked Nicole if she understood it. She said parts of it, but she really liked the music. Matthew explained parts of it to her , then it made more sense.

Hope ya'll had as fabulous a weekend as I had!

Home Instead

*UPDATE*
Well we just got home from the doctors office and yuppers the kiddo has strept throat. She got a mega antibiotic shot in the butt, so she is not a happy camper. I had to ply her back into a half decent mood with the promise of Wendy's for dinner. She loves their chicken nuggets, and any new toy that will keep her occupied and in bed while recuping is welcome, lol.
So she will be home from school tomorrow too, /sigh, was hoping we could get thru the first 6 weeks with no sickness. It was not meant to be.

Well I'm home today instead of subbing for the 6th grade class like I was supposed to. Nicole woke up not feeling good, and I've thought all week she was coming down with the cold I had lastweek, but she just keeps complaining of her throat for the most part. Since we have friends coming in from out of town Saturday for a night on the town, I want to make sure shes ok:)

Shes currently in her Hannah Montana jammies, curled up in bed with one of the dogs watching TV and munching on frosted flakes, lol.

-----------------
As for our contest that is currently running, there are two people up for the prize. So far those two people are the only ones that have gotten 15 right. I'll wait a few more days for entries, then announce the winner on Monday the 29th.

-----------------------

Lastnight after we had our fill of Dancing With The Stars 3 day season premiere, Chris and I came back here to the computer room while Nicole watched one of her tweenie shows. Chris got on my blog to see how many movie lines he knew then clicked on one of blogthing quizzes I had up there and started taking all these funny quizzes, so I got on there too. We got some interesting ones to pop up, such as
What kind of bagel I am ( plain btw)
What kind of kisser I am
Was I normal about sex
What my pimp name, my stripper name and my adult movie star name were

Anyway we got a great laugh out of that, including our friend that we were on IM with at that time. Also had a quiz on there on How Texan are you? and since we live in Texas we had to take that one... I got only 29percent Texan, and Chris got like close to 90 percent I believe since he was born and raised here, lol.

Anyway will let ya'll know what doc says about Nicoles throat.

If you still want to enter our movie line contest , please just scroll down two posts:) to my 200 post contest:) and have a great day!

This is a bad word...

Yesterday I got called in to sub for 7th grade English, with one 10 grade pre-AP class.
I have to say that some of the 7th grade classes I had didn't act much better than the younger classes I normally sub for. I also let them know it. Only one class truly taxed me , and they ALL got in trouble. Oh well, their normal teacher would be back, and they will get reprimanded for it.

One funny thing did happen yesterday though. Have you ever heard that country song by Tim McGraw called 'Back When'? he is talking about the difference in things from when we were kids compared to now; one such verse goes something like this

"Back when a Hoe was a Hoe, and coke was a coke, and crack's what you were doing, when you were cracking jokes; back when a screw was a screw, the wind was all that blew, and when you said I"m down with that well it meant you had the flu"....

get the picture?
well, I was reminded specifiallyof that song when one of the 7th grade girls came up to me with the packet I had handed out to them and told me there was a bad word in the vocabulary list - she pointed to HOE. I didn't laugh at her, but had to explain that the 'HOE" she was thinking of was spelled HO, and that eht HOE in the vocabulary words menat a tool used to get weeds out of a garden.
/sigh.

Anyway, I sub for 6th grade tomorrow, and I know some of the kids in this class before as I've had them in various other classes I subbed for before and I like most of them and they seem to like me so all will be well.

If you haven't entered our contest, you still have time to enter so CLICK HERE. My co-host and BFF NIKKI has some of the music on her blog from some of the movies that are answers if you need a bit of a memory jolt, so CLICK HERE to hear some of that music. You can see the prize up for grabs too when you look at the original contest post - it is from my friend Connie Dubois of Bayoumoon Candles.

Hope you give the contest a try, and have a great day,

Ya'll come back now , ya hear?

Happy 200th Post to MOI:)

*UPDATE*

I received the gift basket that is going to be won by whoever figures out ALL the movie lines!

Here it is:

Seems that Connie added a little extra - included in this adorable basket is one Pearberry candle, one matching handmade soap, one homemade beeswax lipbalm ( that smells and tastes like honey), and a little votive, but I cannot tell the scent of that one... If you win this you will definitely enjoy it becasue I enjoy the candles I received for my anniversary from her:) Shes fantastic!
-----------------

YAY, this is my 200th post. Never thought I'd get my blog this far. I had a lot of fun on my 100th post , creating a contest and giving away a fabulous prize. This one is no different.
Well, maybe a little bit.

This CONTEST is being co-hosted by moi and my BFF NIKKI! We have both been wracking our brains trying to come up with lines from movies that will make you think a bit.

The prize, which I will post a picture of when I receive it in the mail, is a small gift basket from my friend Connie Dubois of Bayoumoon Candles. She agreed to give away to the winner a candle and matching scent soap all made by her. I think she mentioned something about Pearberry. She makes beautiful baskets, and if you don't remember the one she made for my anniversary present, look here...

Some of these lines may be from movies as far back as the 50's, some from the 80's , or some much more recent, but either way, hope you have fun! The contest will be up for a week, and the winner will be the first one to get them ALL right , or if no one gets all of them, then the one with the most right!

Get your Movie thinking caps on, and Here we GO!!!!!:

1. "I can't believe I gave my panties to a geek.."

2. " You had me at hello"

3. "Is it you?"

4. " I married Rambo"

5. "SHOW ME THE MONEY!"

6. " Goose, she's lost that lovin feelin"

7. "LET GO OF HER YOU BITCH!!!"

8. " It's a big rolling turd!"

9. " I have THREE possible fathers???"

10. "Snakes? why does it have to be snakes? "

11. "Son, your ego is writing checks your body can't cash"

12. "Ladybugs, lots and lots of ladybugs..."

13. " Whassa hoppenin' hot stuff?"

14. " Nobody puts Baby in a corner"

15. " My babys come home from the war Daddy!, My Chadwick is hooome..."

16. " dad?" "what?" "Dad" What?" "DAD?" "WHAT??"

17. "I have a bad feeling about this..."

OK, there they are! If you know your movies, you may figure out we were a bit tricky and put two lines up from the same movie:)) aren't we sneaky?

Anyway, leave the answers in the comment section of this post in order to be entered!

Hope everyone had a great weekend:))

Happy Saturday to All!

Well its certainly a lazy Saturday. I hadn't seen my mom in several weeks or more so she decided to take a ride out here today which was really nice.
I had to run to the grocery store and bank, so her , Nicole and I did that, then went to the local yummy Italian restaurant and picked up pizza and eggplant parmigiana for lunch. After that Chris decided he wanted ice cream, so we ran to Braums.
Had a very nice visit with my mom, even though I talk to her 2-3 times a day.
I wanted her to look at Nicoles feet. Why you may wonder. Well lately Nicole has complained of her right ankle hurting. The first time it looked maybe SLIGHTLY and I mean MINUTELY swollen, so we put ice on it and told her to take it easy. Ever since then, by the time she gets home from school she is limping on it.
Now what is freaking me out just a tad bit is that when she gives me her foot to look at, and I compare it to the other one, I see no swelling or any other abnormality except on the side of her foot. It looks a tad bit like my moms and mine, with the CMT.
When my mom and I were first diagnosed, Nicole was 3. They said to have her checked before she went into Kindergarten and we did and they said she was fine. They also said to get her checked again in about 5 yrs or so and I think it may be time... Just say a small prayer as I go to call the MDA nurse Monday to see who I may be able to take her to.

It was nice to see my mom, and the house got cleaned before she got here, so I can have a fairly uneventful weekend. Hope ya'll enjoy yours too:)
Don't forget the contest coming Monday!

Do you like my new BLUE blog? Blue is beautiful and my favorite color if you haven't already figured it out!

Commercial Video

Do you remember a few posts ago I mentined I had seen an IKEA commercial where a little boy puts his potty chair on the sofa? well I found it finally on youtube.
I just hope it doesn't give any other little mischievous boys any ideas...

Anyway, I have not miscounted now, and our movie contest will launch Monday! I know for a fact the gift will be on its way to me today! I will post a picture of it when I get it , but I will at least tell what the prize will be when contestis launched.
If you are great at figuring out old movies then this contest will be for you!
It will be co-hosted by myself and my BFF Nikki, so stay tuned!

and have a great day:))

It's a Tylenol PM night:)

I had to sub today. Thank the good Lord above that it was NOT as bad as last Thursday. Today I had a First grade class and for the most part they were good. I didn't have to send anyone to the nurse, nor did I have to send out a search party for people playing in the bathroom, nor did I have to have the Vice Principal come talk to my class. YAY!

However, I was on my feet about 90 percent of the time so right now my legs and feet hurt so its definitley a tylenol PM nite so I will be able to sleep:)

When I came home I had a few dishes to do and had to get a meatloaf in the oven. Nicole sometimes likes to help me cook so I thought while I was doing the dishes SHE could mix up the meatloaf. She thinks its gross and fun at the same time to squish the ingredients together. My meatloaf is very yummy, I hardly have ANY leftovers, but I know I don't look this happy when making it:

and the finished, uncooked meatloaf:

Well, I hope ya'll had a great day too!

If you like the CIRCUS, and think of yourself as a ringmaster, sideshow freaky act, acrobat, or trapeze artist, hop on over to HERE and tell Michelle at SoS why you think you should be that particular part of the circus. It's another contest! YIPPEE!!!

I entered myself as a sideshow freak:)

Oh What Is In A Name?

Got this blogthing quiz e-mailed to me this morning, thought it was pretty funny, and SO not true! But it IS funny as all get out!
What's Sexy About Your Name
You are sexy because you are torrid. You are a fiery lover.
You have an extremely high sex drive. And you don't do much to control it.

You crave variety and excitement. If someone interests you, you'll pursue them... full force.
Your passion is all consuming. There's nothing that can quell your sexual energy.

Sexual freedom is very important to you. You don't like following rules.
You feel that anything between consenting adults should be fair game.

So, how sexy is YOUR name? let me know, and have a great day!

Simple Rules For LIving

I just finished trying to mow the lawn - but the mower crapped out on me about a quarter of the way through. I don't have much else planned for today, so I thought I'd leave you with a few home remedies that will help immensely! It was sent to me in an email, but not sure who wrote it...

Enjoy:)

Avoid cutting yourself when slicing vegetables by getting someone else to hold them while you chop.

For high blood pressure sufferers: simply cut yourself and bleed for a few minutes, thus reducing the pressure in your veins. Remember to use a timer.

A mouse trap, placed on top of your alarm clock, will prevent you fromrolling over and going back to sleep after you hit the snooze button.

If you have a bad cough, take a large dose of laxatives; then you'll be afraid to cough.

You only need two tools in life - WD-40 and Duct Tape. If it doesn't moveand should, use the WD-40. If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.

Remember : Everyone seems normal until you get to know them.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.

Daily Thought: SOME PEOPLE ARE LIKE SLINKIES; NOT REALLY GOOD FOR ANYTHING BUT THEY BRING A SMILE TO YOUR FACE WHEN PUSHED DOWN THE STAIRS!

Hope that helped with some problems you may be having around the house.

If you want a really good laugh, and you have kids around the 9-12 yr old age range, and might be facing having that talk with them, click here to see how Michelle handled it!

Tell me what home remedies you may have ! Its always a good thing to share helpful hints:)

Mondays Musings

Well the weekend is gone and I"m feeling MUCH better! Today however, I have to do the things around the house that I was going to do this weekend.

Didn't have anything good to post today, so I was searching through my e-mail , and came up with this.

Thought this was very appropriate considering the hurricanes we've had lately:

A friend in Florida sent me this and told me they were all the rage at the moment!

----------------------------------------

Also, here is a good joke that might get you into the mind of a Texan!

Texans in Heaven

Gabriel went to the Lord and said, 'I have to talk to you. We have some Texans up here who are causing problems... They're swinging on the Pearly Gates, my horn is missing, and they are wearing T-shirts instead of their robes; there's barbecue sauce and Picante sauce all over everything, especially their T-shirts; their dogs are riding in the chariots and chasing the sheep; they are wearing baseball caps and cowboy hats instead of their halos. They refuse to keep the stairway to Heaven clean, and their boots are marking and scuffing up the halls of Wisdom. There are watermelon seeds and tortilla chip crumbs all over the place. Some of them are walking around with just one wing; and they insist on bringing their horses with them.

'The Lord said, 'Texans are Texans, Gabriel. Heaven is home to all of my children. If you want to know about real problems, call the Devil.

'So Gabriel calls the Devil who answers the phone and says, 'Hello---hold on a minute.

'When he returns to the phone the Devil says, 'O.K., I'm back. What can I do for you? 'Gabriel replied, 'I just want to know what kind of problems you are having down there with the Texans.'The Devil said, 'Hold on again. I need to check on something.

'After about 5 minutes the Devil returned to the phone and said. 'I'm back. Now what was the question?'Gabriel said, 'What kind of problems are you having down there with the Texans?'The Devil said, 'Man, I don't believe this...hold on.'This time the Devil was gone 15 minutes and when he returns he says, 'I'm sorry Gabriel, I can't talk right now. Those Texans have put out the fire and are trying to install air conditioning.

Hope ya'll have a great Monday!

Just Pretty

Since this is the last time I think my rose bush will bloom, thought I'd capture the last few blooms that greeted me yesterday morning. Since the weather here today is so gray and icky , due to the hurricane, thought this would be a good post today.

Have a great day!

God Was Crying

Yesterday when I wanted to blog I had to work. I remembered well what day it was. I just didn't know how to put it in words.
Lastnight, as a family , we watched a documentary entitled "102 Minutes that Changed America Forever".
Real life videos taken of the planes crashing into the towers.
I remember I was getting dressed, when Chris yelled to me from living room. I listened to the broadcasts on the news on the way to daycare to drop Nicole off, and I watched TV with everyone at work because we didn't want to work - we couldn't.
Nicole has heard us talk about it, but doesn't remember that day very well - she was 2. She wanted to watch it with us. We sat as silent tears sometimes escaped down our cheeks, for the looks of utter horror on the faces of those people standing there watching it happen.
We watched as home videos caught people jumping from 90th floor windows.
It was very humbling - and God was crying. I believe that. He was opening the pearly gates trying to receive all those people that died way before their time, he was crying for the ones about to come to him unknowingly. I believe that. I have to believe that.
We recorded that show for a friend who doesn't have cable and as much as I rewatch movies, that is one that I know I will never want to watch again.
If you would want to watch that documentary I'm sure the History Channel will air it again.

--------------------------------------

On a bit brighter note, but not by much, I subbed again yesterday. This time a 2nd grade class. This time was the worst of all the classes I've had so far. Their teacher was actually there , but she had to do individual testing, so she needed a sub. I never quite figured out if because I was their first sub of the year or whatever, but I never want that class again.
When we went thru Sub orientation, we were told the procedure if we had trouble with one or two kids, how we were supposed to handle it. First go to the lead teacher for that grade. Have that child or children sit in that teachers class for a bit. If they still gave us trouble, then we were to call one of the counselors down. If still trouble the vice -principal was to come down.
Wanna guess how bad my class was? After I removed 3 students to the lead teachers room, I got the VP next - totally skipped the counselor. Guess the lead teacher called him, not sure.
I was following the teachers lesson plan exactly, trying to give them their work , and get their folders ready for the end of the day, trying to get them to their specials class, do rest room breaks, lunch and recess ( which they almost lost completely). I was losing my voice , but I did not yell which was hard for me to not just tell them to sit down and shut the hell up.
As of lastnight, after I had gotten home and decompressed a bit, my voice was squeaky and you could still hear me. Today? can't hear me at all, which I'm sure Chris and Nicole are enjoying ( haha).

---------------------------------------

On a much brighter note, Nikki and I will probably launch our contest next week. The lady that was putting up the prize was affected by the last hurricane and just recently got power back.

Hurricane IKE is headed straight for Galveston. They are saying by lunch time tomorrow, the rain will hit here in DFW, along with the winds. My friend Christi, just outside Houston, said they are predicting when it gets there , there will still be 70-100 mph winds still.
It will be cooling the temps down tremendously, into the low to mid 80s at the most. YAY for that.

Check out my BFF Nikki's blog - her son Nathan just played his first football game lastnight and they won! WOOHOO! Stop by there and give him a thumbs up , he was so excited, after being so nervous about playing.

Have a great day!

Hohum Wednesday

Not much happening here today.
The sixth graders were great yesterday, but LOUD! So far I haven't had any problems subbing and it has been fun. The only thing I don't like is waiting till the end of the month for my paycheck. Oh well, it will be of alot of use when I do get it.

I'm off today , but sub tomorrow for either K-2, won't know till I get there. Today I'm going to a meeting of the Shakespeare Club with my friend Jackie. I've always enjoyed the programs when I've gone with her so far, so looking forward to getting out of the house today.

Chris is doing a teensy bit better. He worked all day yesterday and was in alot of pain when he came home, but he took a nice long hot shower and I gave him a good dinner and he was able to sleep some a bit better lastnight.

Nicole got her progress reports the last two days, its hard to believe shes on her 4th week of school already, while some kids are barely into their second. I'm proud to announce that she got straight A's so far, the lowest being a 91, which is absoutely fantastic.

The Dallas /Fort Worth area is currently psyching themselves up for another influx of hurricane evacuees from the Corpus/Galveston area. My MIL lives about an hour outside San antonio and she said if she could she'd be up here by tomorrow since San Antonio area and whatnot will probably be flooded with people fleeing to safety. I'd enjoy having her here since I haven't seen her since Easter or so.

Well about to go get cleaned up, then gotten straighten the living room before Jackie picks me up.

No Time Today

Well, I was a bit annoyed this morning. I was going to do this sort of venting post... but I'm over it now... I called in to work half a day today so my mind was occupied with getting myself ready.

I'm subbing 6th grade today. Guess it will give me a bit of insite as to what I have to look forward to with Nicole, huh?

Hope everyone is doing well. Chris only worked half a day yesterday - his boss sent him home because she could tell he was hurting. He went in today but will probably have to work all day since I won't be home till around 4/4:30.

Laters:)

AHHHHHH, MONDAY

Well, so far my Monday has gone WAY better than my past Friday:) Chris had a bit of a rough weekend, but this morning is doing ok for the most part. He got to the bus stop this morning without any psycho driver running a stop sign, so all was well in my mind. At least Chris called me to tell me he was ok, knowing I was at home freaking out:)

I have decided to join the first ever Crochet Along on the Lion Brand Yarn website. It is an intermediate level patter. The third block looked to me to be the one that would cause me the most trouble so I decided to practice. I got the stitch down ( I think), but it's supposed to go in a STRAIGHT LINE, not be curved. Maybe I need to not do such tight stitches?

This was my try:

Chris said it turned out pretty, but he too diden't believe it was supposed to be circled...

I was supposed to be trying a Cluster stitch... if any of you out there can crochet, and can possibly help me, give me some insight as to why it turned out circular, and tell me how to get it to go straight I would greatly appreciate it.

In other news, I've seen two commercials lately that have caused me to wonder about the minds of boys and men in general:

Isn't it just like a man and little boy in general to just stand there and watch a spill spreading , trying to figure out how many paper towels it will take to clean it up - instead of just grabbing some and cleaning it up??/sigh

And the other one that is driving me crazy, and I'm sure has given little boys the world over an idea is the one where you see the little boy carrying his potty seat into the living room , putting it on the couch. You see him take off his diaper and climb on the couch.

Hilarious commercial, but I want to see how many parents have had to deal with this happening since their child saw it on TV?

I tried to find it on youtube, but its not on there yet.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

There is still time to enter this contest at Semblance of Sanityto win a fabulous book! All you have to do is share a bit of growing up advice that your mom gave you. The book is great for mothers and daughters!

Hubby Update

Ok, some of you have e-mailed me and asked in the comment section how Chris is fairing...
He has survived the weekend, however he has been in steady pain. Not only from the broken collar bone, but from the fall in general. Finally got him in the shower this morning where he let the warm water gently work its wonders and that helped a bit.

He was able to sleep a bit more lastnight then Friday, and he napped a bit today. I've been feeding him well and trying to take care of him.

Thanks to everyone who has inquired about his well-being. I've told him all of your well wishes and he appreciates them very much. Right now he is playing Everquest trying to keep his mind off of the pain - as you know everything ( pain, fever, illness) is worse in the evening.

Humble Pie, and a Broken Hubby

You know its hard to admit you were wrong. It is for me sometimes. I'm human, and I don't pretend to be more than that. I yell, I cry, and sometimes I swear. I also live, laugh and love.

The humble pie I dished up lastnight did not sit well with the chili dogs I made for dinner.

It all started yesterday morning. I was having to sub yesterday. My first real day , not just in an art class but a class of kindergarteners. I had to guide them through their whole day, not just tell them to sit and draw. I was a bit nervous. Nicole was dragging her feet a bit. I was running around like a mad woman. We had plenty of time, but it FELT like we didn't. Chris left for work on time, taking off on his bike to get to the bus stop.

About 20 mins later my cell rings, its Chris' ring, but I didn't get to it in time. I tried to call him back. No dice. So I tried again and got his voicemail. I thought whatever, if he needs me he will call me back. Sure enough about 5 mins later ( maybe less) he calls again, telling me to come open the front door, he was hurt and needed help getting inside.

So I go open up for him, and hes holding his arm against his chest. I truly didn't believe he was hurting that bad. I thought he was more shaken up then anything since what happened was he saw a car barreling down on him, oblivious to the upcoming stop sign. Chris swerved so as not to get hit, hit some gravel, therefor throwing him into the curb and off the bike he fell landing on his shoulder.

I was trying to get lunches together for nicole and I , make our breakfast, feed the dogs, and whatever. So Chris got his own ice and stuff. I guess like I said I didn't think he was hurt that bad, but maybe should have fussed over him a bit more than I did. We got into a little bit of a tiff. Admittedly I guess I was in a bit of a snit to begin with and that just fueled the flames.

Needless to say he stayed home from work and went to the doctor. I went to work, and Nicole went to school. The day was ok I guess, till I realized about lunchtime the reason for my snit.

You know. Every single woman at one time or another has been hormonally influenced, for good or bad.

After work, I rode home with my friend Nan, she had to pick her son up so we just all piled into the car. Chris called me and told me he just got the x ray results and he has a broken collarbone.

HUH???? WTH????

So we get home, his arm is in a sling for the next three weeks, then back for more xrays.

After finding out that he was hurt that bad and I kind of brushed him off when he came home after it happened, I took my helping of humble pie stuffed with xtra crow...

Like I said it didn't mix well with the chili cheese dogs we had for supper.

After a good nights rest however I am feeling better. He's just sore all over now from the fall in general, not just his shoulder/collarbone.

Here is my broken hubby...

Judy

I've posted several pictures of my dogs, but hardly ever any of my little gray cockatiel Judy. So here she is while she was eating her breakfast yesterday morning. Isn't she a cutie?

She loves me, likes Nicole and tolerates Chris.

She loves to eat. Besides her birdseed/millet mixture, she get bananas and grapes. She will occasionally eat apple.

She loves crunchy cereal, such as honey nut cheerios and corn chex.

Usually she is a very mild mannered bird - except when I try to take a nap. I do not nap often, but on the occasion when I do, that is when she decides to raise heck and will screech to the top of her little bird brain , therefore making my nap null and void.

She loves to fly around my bedroom. Very rarely does she hit the mirror, window or fan.

She loves music. I usually leave Country Music Television on for her. This comes from the people who I originally got her from. Jenny and her husband Tom raised cockatiels and when they would get too noisy, Tom would sing to them softly as he played his guitar.

If she hears a siren, whether it is from a car, fire engine or police car, even a doorbell on TV - she will answer it. As loudly as she can.

If she decides she doesn't like you she will hiss at you.

-------

Hope ya'll enjoyed Judy. She really is a sweet little birdy and fun to watch. Will try to get more pics of her. Maybe I can get one with her wings spread, as she has beautiful wings.

Each post I write is getting me closer to our contest. Please keep chekcing back in, it should be sometime next week I hope!

GAME ON!!

I was very excited yesterday to receive my Quest magazine in the mail. For those of you that don't know what Quest is, it a publication offered free to all members and patients of the MDA.
I was particularly excited to receive this issue when I saw the cover. It was titled 'Entering the World of Online Gaming.'

I have mentioned in the past that I play a game online called Everquest II. In this game I have a character I control that fights all sorts of things throughout the virtual world of Norrath. I love playing this game. It provides and escape from rl for just a little while. You can be in a guild or not be in a guild. Chris and I both belong to a guild by the name of Exiles of Lowca. Within the guild sometimes lasting friendships are created. Chris and I have several RL friends that we met in game. We've gotten together at each others houses , and we talk on the phone.

This article from the September issue of Quest describes all the different types of online video games. Please check it out. People that don't play do not realize the size of the EQ2 virtual world, and others like it . There are people on at all times of the day, from all over the world. I have met two of my current pen pals in game - one in Spain and one in Australia. It is extremely fascinating to converse and get to know people from other countries.

I've also mentioned in past posts that I cannot run. Its due to the CMT. When I do try to run I look like I'm having some sort of attack. In game however, I can run as free and fast as I possibly can.

I also do not have alot of strength in my arms. A gallon of milk is hard for me to lift. I cannot open those annoying little ketchup packets from fast food places because I do not possess the strength in my fingers to do so. However in game I can wield a huge bow and arrow, or duel wield swords. I can kick - HARD to kill whatever is attacking me. If I tried to do a similar karate kick in rl, I would fall on my butt because I no longer possess that type of balance.

While reading the article you will notice that some of these same reasons that I mentioned above are stated for others that are affected with some sort of disability.

I am not in a wheelchair, but I have met people in game that are. I made friends with one guy that is a quadriplegic. If it takes the hand skills to use both mouse and keyboard to play, if he is paralyzed how does he manage? I asked him. He plays with the mighty mouth stick. If you have ever been around a paralyzed individual you will know what that is. If you don't it is a small stick that the person can use to type and write while holding it in their mouth.

Please check out the article. If you want to find out more about Everquest II click here.
I will not stop playing. My main character is now a lvl 80 - the highest level you can achieve in game at the moment. If you decide to check the game out on a free trial version, Please send me an in game tell - my character name is Esharia.

And if fighting monsters isn't your cup of tea, I know that in Everquest II, you can craft. You can become a provisioner, tailor , woodworker, carpenter, or sage. By selling the stuff you make you can earn money in game to buy things. so, I hope to see you in game. If I don't, I will still see you in the blogosphere!

Quick Note

Morning all! Hope everyone had a FANTASTIC Labor Day 3-day weekend.
I'm in a bit of a hurry this morning because today is my first day to sub at Nicoles school. I have charge of a Kindergarten art class all day. This should be an adventure! Should I wear nice clothes? or just automatically borrow Nicoles art smock? lol.
Will let you know how it goes!

I also want to thank each and everyone who donated in some way toward the MDA telethon yesterday. Nationwide over 60 million dollars were raised to help those afflicted by one form or another of the over 40 different types of Neuromuscular Diseases and Neuropathies!

Hope everyone continues to have a great week. Look at the post below this one as there are some great things going on in the blogosphere.

My contest will still be on, however I miscounted my posts , so I have a few more to go so probably next week. It will be co-hosted by moi and my BFF Nikki. The prize that will be up for grabs is FABULOUS!

C ya'll later!

UPDATE!!!

Ok, my first day of being a substitue teacher is over and I survived. I subbed elementary art class today. The teacher had plans for me to give the students a relatively easy drawing project. For the most part everyone followed along, and upon their way out the door even thanked me and told me they had a good time! ( yay)
I had 5 classes back to back in the morning, then my 30 minutes lunch, then my last two classes and what would have been the teachers conference period. During this time I cleaned up what didn't get cleaned up by the students and I put the art supplies up. Got home at a relatively good time, albeit pretty tired.
Hope everyones day went great!
