Thursday after Nicole and I got home from school, as we were getting out of the car she pointed and said "Mom our neighbors are weird", and as we have alot of those in this neighborhood I had to look to see where she was pointing...
Lo and behold the house across the street and slightly caddy corner from us had a lighted wire Christmas tree in their yard. I truly didn't know what to say. When it got dark later that evening and we went to drive to the bus stop to get Chris, Nicole looked that way and said "You've got to be kidding". Not only did they now have their wire and lights Christmas tree in the yard, but Frosty, Rudolph and about a million Christmas lights.
It is two weeks till THANKSGIVING!!!! And as if that wasn't enough , after we picked Chris up we went grocery shopping at Walmart. We walked in and there was a nicely decorated Christmas tree. ( even when we were in Abilene on Halloween? we walked in and there was a Christmas tree at that walmart, with bats and ghost and goblins flying around the rest of the store... and Christmas candy on one side of the aisle and Halloween candy on the other...)
As we went through the store Thursday night I also heard Christmas music being piped into the store.
I wonder... are they trying to brain wash us? They build us up into a Christmas frenzy , wanting us to spend tons of money on Black Friday?
I can't help but think, that even though I love Christmas , I've now found th reason why I cna't stand Christmas music by Mid- December. I've been listening to it for over a month already!!!!

Oh see- I don't decorate until after Thanksgiving but I start playing the music after halloween. IT's too good to only listen to for a few weeks out of the whole year!!
I have slowly gained a hate for christmas commercialism...I tell my family year after year that I want to cancel christmas since no one seems to remember what it is really about ...all they think about is what can they get and god forbid if I spend one dollar more on one over the other... sigh... I went to walmart last friday (week ago) the bell ringers were out the chritsmas trees were up and the entire seasional part of the store was christmas ... What happend to THANKSGIVING... has it been cancelled? Uggg passing the soap box back your way!
I so wish the retailers would let us enjoy ONE holiday at a time. I really love Thanksgiving!!! And good luck finding ANY decorations for it.
I love Christmas too, but until after Thanksgiving...bah humbug!
PS Yeah that Pee & Poo is somethin' else, huh???
If you go to my friends Nicole & Cassie, they all ready have their pages decorated, and BethAnne already has her Christmas tree up in her house....hahah, I love it!
It's funny! They are all just in a hurry for Christmas to get here!
Yep that is just too soon! I have been to the malls though and they have all the Christmas trees and decorations up now! I wait till about a week before Christmas to put mine up... can't stand the mess for long! I'm a tidy freak.
I hear you! And I HATE the early celebration of Christmas. Which is why I avoid those stores as much as possible for the next few weeks....
And ummm no, they aren't trying to get you to spend a ton of money on Black Friday. They're desperate. They're trying to get you to spend money today and tomorrow and Black Friday and all through Thanksgiving so that they can stay afloat. The hope (according to some trade magazines I've read) is that if you spread out the money you're spending, you won't notice that you're spending more this year than (or as much as) last year, given the tight economy. I personally hate it.
I have heard people saying they are FINISHED with their Christmas shopping. Like starting early will keep a person from a 6 week spending spree. I hope to get some cookies baked and some fruitcake. With only good fruit of course.
Commercialism= schmercialism
38 days and counting!! I CAN'T WAIT!!!
Hallie :)
I think everything comes out in July now, pretty soon, we'll just never put it away.
