2009 Race for Education

Good Monday Morning to all!

I had mentioned this briefly in my last two posts or so, but Friday was the real deal.  Nicoles school had their biggest fundraiser of the year.  This was only the second year we had this type of fundraiser and so far we have surpassed the monies raised last year!  All the money goes toward the school, for library books, computers, textbooks and whatever else is needed.  It then turns into a fun day for the kids.

My mom got out here about 930 am ( because Nicole wanted Grandma out here.  She wished Nanny could be here too, but maybe this weekend...) and off to the school we went.  Nicole was excited to introduce her Grandma to her teacher.  The fourth grade was going to do their 'race' at 1030.  The entire grade goes out to the designated track and walks or runs as many laps as they can in 30 minutes. Parents are out there walking too, as well as some teachers.

(here they are ready to take off around the track)

After that burst of energy, they are given water and popsicles to cool themselves down, then its off to the really fun stuff.  Like dunk a coach, and hit one of the 4th grade teachers in the face with a wet sponge.  They could also get popcorn, snowcones, and more water.
There was also a booth where they could get a Mustang tattoo on their arm or face. ( thats the school mascot).  The school mascot was in on the fun day too, running around to the different booths and keeping the spirit up.

( this is one of the coaches after a solid hit to dunk him)

( Nicole after we signed her out for the day and took her to Wendy's for lunch. Shes showing off her very first tattoo, lol) and hopefully her last

Moving on to the bigger portion of the parking lot, they also had a karaoke machine for the teachers, at least two huge blow up obstacle courses, and a rock climbing wall.  There was also a petting zoo for all ages.  The PTO did a wonderful job with this particular fundraiser and even thought of the little kids, and had fun and games scaled to their level in yet another area.    All in all it was a wonderful day for all involved.

(You can see the rock climbing wall next to the middle school building)
( here is Nicole trying to scale the rock wall - she only got about half way up)
The rest of our weekend went off quite calmly if a bit boring, but everyone is in good health, and off to school and/or work today.  Hoping everyone had a great weekend.

I do ask that you continue to keep my friend Kristen and her family in prayers since her baby nephew needs yet another heart operation, and he is only like 2 months old or so.
My friend Nan and her family as her father has had a very rough time lately and Thursday went through surgery on his colon for a tumor, of which they have not yet gotten the results.

On the brighter side, only two more weeks left of school; the puppy is still cute as ever and being a very good little girl; and Nicoles BFF Carson turned 10 yesterday!

Hope ya'll have a great start to what promises to be an even greater week!

Looks like y'all had a BLAST! It's always fun when parents get to play with their kids.

I'll be thinking of Kristen and Nan's families as their going through such difficult times.

Talk to ya later!

Oh my goodness, I will be praying for your friends!

Looks like y'all had a really fun day!

My computer is being all wonky and slow and won't scroll up and down smoothly. I tried to go back through the other posts to find the name of your puppy and I couldn't. Please, please, tell me the name of your puppy!

Oh what fun! I love that event, and so glad it was successful for you. Ours was ... smaller, but what can you do?
