No, Thank You

I don't usually do movie reviews on my blog, so I'm sorry for this. I think today is the day BRUNO comes out - literally. Played by actor Sacha Baron Cohen, the same man who did BORAT. I didn't see that one and I sure as heck am NOT going to see BRUNO. I cringe when the commercial clip comes on.

Just for the heck of it, I looked him on on the web - this is taken from one article I found...

Sacha Baron Cohen has come a long way from his early days as a history student at Cambridge University, where he wrote his thesis on the Jewish role in the U.S. civil rights movement and was known as “quiet, friendly and studious.” While he appeared in school plays like Fiddler on the Roof, he wasn’t considered much of an actor until he found comedy after school. Now, at 37 years old, he is one of the most respected comedians in the world and gets to lay down every night with red-headed hottie, Isla Fisher.

While Sacha Baron Cohen's comedic style seems to lay it all out on the table for his followers, here at AskMen.com we've managed to dig up a few things you might not know about the man behind Borat/Ali G/Bruno and others.

1- Sacha Baron Cohen used to be an actual male model

Behind the Borat mustache, Ali G do-rag and nude ass of Bruno, is an actual good-looking man. Before becoming a comedian, Cohen worked as a male fashion model and he appeared in a number of fashion magazines. His slim, 6-foot-3 figure does make him perfect for that world. Reportedly, the stint inspired Bruno. Just how much nude model ass did he see before he cracked into the character? We wonder if we'd really like to know the answer to that.

2- Sacha Baron Cohen's appearance at the 2006 MTV Movie Awards was later cut

As Borat, he greeted the MTV audience with: “Good evening, gentlemen and prostitutes.” While he was supposed to be introducing Gnarls Barkley's performance of “Crazy” (with Chewbacca on drums), he took a moment to slamJessica Simpson’s camel toe. He said that he liked her mouth and could see it clearly through her denim pants. While it aired once, MTV cut it from subsequent rebroadcasts.

HUH? One of the most respected comedic actors today? In my honest opinion, that doesn't say much....If thats the way comedy is going, then I guess I'm not going to see any more comedies at the movies.

Now don't get your panties in a wad - if this is your type of flick, and you loved Borat and can't wait to see Bruno, that is fine by me, but I don't want to hear about it, ok?
That is my opinion, and you are entitled to yours and I will respect that, just Please don't tell me anything about the movie!!!!

I'm in total agreement with you. Life is too short. The commercials bug me, too!

I wasn't aware that he'd made another movie, but I wasn't interested in Borat either. Thanks for the heads up!

I heard that Borat was a riot so I watched it and didn't laugh once. It was sick and terrible and just sad.

I won't be watching this either.

I really don't love that movies are all geared to 14 year old boys. Sure they are the ones with disposable incomes, but come on!

I agree with you, comedies these days just aren't like they used to be! Let's hope movies like this are just a phase that's passing through and Hollywood starts making some GOOD comedies soon.

With movie ticket prices averaging about $8 per person out here where I live, there aren't many movies that have been worth going to see. Heck, last movie I saw was Star Trek and that was at the drive in!

I'm with ya. I haven't seen many "comedies" lately, nor do I want to. I'm sometimes surprised by friends who find them hilarious, but ... just not for me!
